World After by Susan Ee

Hello Everyone!

I won an advanced copy of World After on Goodreads (YAY!) So I feel SO lucky to have been able to read it early! It is also official now: This series will be THE END OF ME...

Title: World After
Author: Susan Ee
Series: Penryn and the End of Days #2
Source: Giveaway (Thank You!)
Publisher: Hodder and Staughton
Release Date: November 21st 2013
No. of Pages: 442

When a group of people capture Penryn's sister Paige, thinking she's a monster, the situation ends in a massacre. Paige disappears. Humans are terrified. Mom is heartbroken.

Penryn drives through the streets of San Francisco looking for Paige. Why are the streets so empty? Where is everybody? Her search leads her into the heart of the angels' secret plans where she catches a glimpse of their motivations, and learns the horrifying extent to which the angels are willing to go.

Meanwhile, Raffe hunts for his wings. Without them, he can't rejoin the angels, can't take his rightful place as one of their leaders. When faced with recapturing his wings or helping Penryn survive, which will he choose?

5 stars: Page the bird salutes this book, and starts
 flying with joy.

I honestly have no idea how I'm going to make it till 2014...I'm basically staring at the month where books are going to kill me repeatedly: over and over and over again....Anyway, I fangirled SO HARD when I found out I won this! I basically went around flailing and now I've FINALLY read it...

I found World After to be very emotional. There were so many points where I cried or was about to cry because it's whilst reading these sort of books that you realise how important family is. There was a scene where a family was reunited and I just...oh...I fell apart completely and started crying. It was so sad but heart-warming and I can't help but smile at that little light in the darkness. I just want to hug this book so badly.

Another element of this book that I loved was the humour. World After just has this raw humour to it that gives you this sort of giggly smile on your face. Usually, Raffe is also around when this happens, because he is so funny! I always laugh at the banter between Raffe and Penryn, and at the little hilarious moments that are dotted throughout the book. Susan Ee manages to somehow make it so that the humour is small but efficient, perfectly timed and manages to place a smile on your face.

I mentioned in my review of Angelfall that Penryn is an extremely kick-ass heroine. This applies to the second book as well. No doubts about it! I can't help but feel proud of Penryn, because she has earned herself somewhat of a reputation! Now she's got her sword I really recommend you get on her side, and not against her!
Also, her relationship with Paige has some strain put on it, in the book, but there is still that unbreakable bond between the sisters that I adore. Bless little Paige...I just want to hug her so bad..

Penryn's mother is a paranoid schizophrenic (as Penryn states in the book) who talks to demons and is kind of scary, but I have to say, I have some growing respect for the woman. I mean, this is basically an apocalypse, and she manages to somehow stay alive. She's really smart I definitely won't be underestimating her in the books to come...

My prediction was also right: RAFFE AND PENRYN ARE GOING TO BE THE END OF ME....ASDFGHJKL...There were so many moments where I was screaming "KISS!!!" and how am I meant to cope....(Can I just remind you all of THAT KISS in the last book!?)! I NEED more Raffe and Penryn and I really need them to be together because they are PERFECTTTTTT....I honestly think that they are my OTP.

Overall, World After was the perfect blend of subtle humour, romance, kick-ass characters and feels. Now, let me go and melt into a puddle...

Bye! xx
